About Nicco Capozzi

 
 

Mr. Capozzi has a diverse profession — he is a practicing criminal defense attorney, civil litigator, instructor of law, author, historian, and entrepreneur. He owns and operates the Law Office of Nicco Capozzi, teaches law, has written several scholarly articles and a book entitled Law School in Plain English.

Education

He received his Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from the California State University Fullerton in Fullerton, California. Prior to transferring to CSU Fullerton, he studied at California State University, Fresno.  Upon graduating from college, Mr. Capozzi was accepted into both law school and film school (where he wanted to become a director). Ultimately he chose law school and enrolled at Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, CA.  Mr. Capozzi excelled his first year at Western State.

After one year at Western State he transferred to the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. At McGeorge he earned the Deans's Honor List and an Academic Achieve Scholarship. He also served as an Editor of the California Initiative Review.  The Review is "a non-partisan, objective Web publication which provides comprehensive, independent analyses of California Ballot initiatives and related issues." For the Review he also authored an article entitled "Proposition 1C: The Lottery Modernization Act."  He also received a Witkin Award for the highest grade in Professional Skills. Due to his outstanding work in the year long Appellate Advocacy course he was selected to serve on the Appellate Advocacy Honors Board, where he was tasked with teaching first year law students the course. In 2009 Mr. Capozzi received his law degree (Juris Doctor) from McGeorge.

Additionally, he studied law in one of the world's finest institution in England at Queen Mary's Law School, which is located in London. In London, he took specialities courses in International Contracts and Transactions as well is Comparative Warranties Law.

Positions

Mr. Capozzi opened this firm in January 2014. Prior to that he had worked in the legal field since 2002, where he started as a legal file clerk while in college. He worked as an attorney at the Law Office of Anthony Capozzi from 2011-2013.  He managed every aspect of that firm and worked on every case. He also worked as a instructor of law at Heald College where he taught from 2011-2015.  He taught classes in Legal Research & Writing, Criminal Law & Procedure, and Constitutional Law. Mr. Capozzi worked as a judicial clerk/extern in 2009 for the California Court of Appeal, 5th District. He researched and wrote legal opinions for Associate Justice Rebecca A. Wiseman

Aside from the above experience, he worked as a litigation law clerk from 2006-2010. He also served as research assistant to a Professor of Law at McGeorge School of Law. In college he worked as freelance writer and journalist. 

As a child and teenager, Mr. Capozzi worked as an actor.  He landed several roles in national commercials, a few independent films, voice overs, and other television work. He is a member of the Screen Actor's Guild (S.A.G.).

Licenses & Associations

Mr. Capozzi is licensed to practice law throughout California in state and federal courts. He is admitted to the California Bar as well as the federal bars of the Eastern District of California, Northern District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, Fresno County Bar Association, Fresno County Young Lawyers Association, McGeorge Alumni Association, Fullerton Alumni Association, Better Business Bureau, Fresno Chamber of Commerce, Clovis Chamber of Commerce, and the Screen Actors Guild (S.A.G.).
